The Bmw 5 Series
The BMW 5-series is the perfect blend of luxury and sophistication that will appeal to BMW connoisseurs as well as newcomers to the company. This series offers mid-sized, 5-door vehicles in saloon and Touring styles and includes the Gran Turismo.
Models in the BMW 5-series operate on a 6- or 8-cylinder engine and 6-speed manual transmission with the option of a 6-speed automatic. Rear-wheel and all-wheel drives are offered on models in this series. BMW lists acceleration times as fast as 5.0 seconds 0-62 in the 550i to an impressive 8.5 seconds 0-62 in the 523i Touring.
Fuel economy is good and environmental impact is decent for this class. The Saloon and New Touring are made with lightweight materials, while all models except the New Touring employ brake energy regeneration, all of which improve fuel economy. Fuel mileage at approximately 30mpg across the series is impressive, and an average of 200g/km CO2 emissions across the series is respectable.
Interior comfort in this series is good for driver and front-seat passenger and fairly roomy in the rear seats. Headroom is ample for the average adult but some riders may still find leg space a bit tight. Like the 1-series and 3-series, interior storage space is limited, but buyers of the touring models may find the extra room of the rear “hatch” style a bit more accommodating.
BMW has consistently provided an exceptional ride, and the 5-series is no exception. Even with the sport suspensions, drivers of the 5-series will find their rides to be smooth, agile, and even. Tyre and wind noise is all but absent, even in the sports models, and drivers will find that engine noise is nothing more than a subtle growl on acceleration.
Standard safety features for the used BMW 5-series include front seat-integrated airbags, traction control, ABS, and crash-sensor activations, to name a few. A first-aid kit and warning triangle are staples of BMW safety and are included in all new vehicles. Receiving a 4 out of 5-star adult passenger rating in crash tests by the Euro NCAP should give buyers peace of mind when investing in and driving their new BMW 5-series. |
